My Story

It's all about me…in 60 seconds

“Mum, I’ve got more match reports.  Please can you sew me another wee book”?

Fast forward, well, a few years and here I am, still writing and still passionate about writing.

I often look back on those days, producing little stories, having them bound together into little books.  Lovely, happy times, creatively producing material with a smile on my face.

A little more about me.

Born in Greenock, on the west coast of Scotland, I moved to Halifax in 2001, thanks to my work.  On the writing front, I have my own blog within the Go Local Advertiser, running over the past 3 years and reaching 16,000 homes within Calderdale.  Another little writing highlight has been having my own column within the Greenock Morton match day programme over the past 5 years.  Creating engaging material, whether it be on bespoke topics, or interviewing players from yester-year, it has been a little flashback to my childhood.

I am a keen road runner, with 6 marathons under my belt.  Ooh, what else can I tell you?  I have performed stand-up comedy on a handful of occasions, 40-minute sets in front of a 3 figure audience (that is about 120 people, not 3!).

I even got paid.

We are a footballing family, with both my sons playing for Greetland (I have managed one of their teams for the past 12 years).  We are also season ticket holders at Bolton Wanderers (my Welsh Grandfather’s influence).

I am a huge music lover.  People often say they love 80’s music.  I prefer describing me as a ‘lover of artists who started in the 80’s and are still going strong’.  Marc Almond (Sir, in my head but officially OBE), Pet Shop Boys, Dexys to name but a few. And within this blogging site, I fully intend writing about them.

Once again, I hope you enjoy.
